Abstract
A system of periodic elastic strips (each one considered as a fragment of a plate) is characterized by a matrix relation between the Bloch series of displacements and stress at the bottom side of the system, contacting the substrate supporting the propagating Rayleigh wave. This characterization of strips, satisfying the energy conservation law with great accuracy, can be applied directly with the planar harmonic Green function characterizing the substrate in investigation of thick metal strips interaction with surface acoustic waves.
