Abstract :
This paper presents an adaptive elastic deformation method, which decrease the bending energy and limit deformation regions at the same time. A new compact support radial basis function (CSTFP) is used to perform local elastic deformation. The optimal support radius of CSTPF is analyzed based on the distance between landmarks in theory. The interpolation function using CSTPF is controlled automatically by the space distribution of landmarks correspondingly. An importance property of our method is that the locality of deformation can be constrained by the space distribution of landmarks, which performs global deformation when landmarks locating sparsely and performs local deformation when landmarks locating densely. Experiments for medical images demonstrated advantages of our method.
