Abstract
Introduction of digital television provides a lot of opportunities for providing new interactive services in broadcast and telecommunication networks. Electronic program guide (EPG) is the most common application for interactive Digital TV (DTV) systems. Java technology provides software environment where interactive DTV applications may run without respect to underlying operating system of DTV Receiver. Still it is convenient to implement platform dependent software components for sending and receiving of EPG data that allows effective using of hardware resources. The paper presents a possible model and its prototype implementation for transmission of EPG data in the system where EPG Generator and DTV Receiver contains software components both in Java and C.
