Abstract :
The implementation of multiband OFDM ultra wideband (MB-OFDM UWB) technology into wireless devices aims to enhance transmission capacities for low-range wireless communication systems. Although OFDM transmission provides a certain robustness against multipath interference, miss-aligned antenna elements may largely impact on the resulting signal-to-noise (SNR) conditions thus limiting the UWB link performance. This article aims to highlight the impact of directive antenna radiation behavior on UWB link performance from a systems perspective. Hence, MB-OFDM bit-error rate (BER) behavior is investigated in terms of directive antenna radiation behavior for standardized models of the UWB radio channel.
