Abstract :
The UK is now a world leader in offshore wind generation, with 584MW of operational capacity installed offshore. The next 12 years will see a significant increase in this capacity, with further Round 1 and 2 wind farms becoming operational, and the advent of Round 3. This scale of activity will bring both great challenges but also great opportunities for a still young, but fast maturing industry. This session will examine the contribution offshore wind can make to the EU targets, progress so far and the engineering and technological demands of the escalation in offshore wind deployment required to meet these targets.
