Abstract
The major reason for the difficulty of sharing and reusing educational resources on networks is the lacking of semantic and consistent ontology. In this paper, an ontology-based Internet education system which implemented the sharing and reusing of learning material in different systems is constructed. It uses ontology to represent the relationship and semantic of data, and uses Extensible Markup Language (XML) and Resource Description Framework (RDF) to describe data. Sharable content object reference model (SCORM) standard is applied to design shareable reusable network learning materials. With the benefit of standard knowledge description methods and SCORM, all information includes learner related information can be described in same way. It makes the transfer and migration of the system easier. All material based on the standard can be embedded for sharing and reuse.
