Abstract :
To overcome the limitations of the knee manufacture method in knee arthroplasty surgery, an innovative reverse engineering application for reconstructing the knee is proposed. Given the two-dimensional image through CT scanning, using image processing and reconstruction techniques, the 3D solid model of the individual knee can be regenerated successfully, which is very difficult to traditional mechanical methods. The reconstructed model strongly resembles the original entity. It is validated that the new methods have the advantages, such as shape matching, shorter manufacture period and low-cost. This paper focuses on the task of automatic reconstruction the morphological shape of knee joint for computer-assisted reconstruction operation, it can provide a scientific basis for the individualized knee design in the future.
