Data Manager for Integrating Business and information Technologies

While investment projects to information system development for survival of enterprises have been initiated every year under today´s severe environment, a problem that their success rate is quite low compared to other fields such as plant or building construction has been pointed out. Information systems have become more global, gigantic and complicate. Meanwhile, the shortening period for development has been requested. In spite of such a situation, they have been individually developed by project control in most of the fields. It might be valid in the midst of complex system environment to put a data manager (DM) as a central core of program management cycle in information management, in order to carry out without contradiction between multiple projects of system development. This paper studies on what roles should be achieved essentially by DM and what roles could be achieved by DM in the program management of system development.
