Abstract
Data updating is a significant stage in the life of a geographical information system (GIS). When the fundamental GIS database has been updated by mapping organizations, the updates in it should be delivered in time to the end users for updating their own GIS database constructed based on the fundamental GIS database. However, at the present time, the updating service of fundamental GIS database is still problematic since there may be many kinds of heterogeneities between these two databases. In order to given a generic solution to this problem, two basic delivery modes for the updating information are firstly discussed and compared in this paper. Afterwards, the operations for implementing the integration of updates and their corresponding execution approaches are proposed based on the analysis of its basic requirements such as schema matching, updates extraction, entity identification, updating operators, and so on.
