Abstract
Knowledge innovation in virtual enterprise (VE) recently attracts increasingly academic attentions. However, many problems in this field are still unresolved. In this paper, we put forward a knowledge fermenting model that was composed of seven essentials: knowledge bacterial strain, knowledge body, knowledge enzyme, knowledge technology, knowledge innovation environment, knowledge fermenting bar, and new knowledge. Further, the mechanism of knowledge innovation in VE was revealed via analyzing the knowledge fermenting process in the socialization bar (from tacit to tacit knowledge), externalization bar (from tacit to explicit knowledge), combination bar (from explicit to explicit knowledge) and internalization bar (from explicit to tacit knowledge). Finally, we pointed out the directions and contents of follow-up researches. The results of this study try to make up for the deficiency of current theory, and offer a scientific basis for the exploration of knowledge innovation in VE.
