Abstract
A novel image transmission coding scheme is proposed over wireless fading environment. The proposed scheme employs burst error correction codes in order to deal effectively with burst errors. We discuss the in-band coding which parity bits are embedded into the same image and should be “almost” invisible and cannot greatly degrade the image quality. Our in-band coding has the better burst-error tolerance in this noisy environment than directly replacing LSBs with parity bits. Experimental evaluation clearly demonstrates that the wireless image transmission using our in-band coding performs better in comparison to other in-band coding schemes.
