Abstract
This paper presents an extracting method for the curves based on B-Snake. Firstly, the polyline is constructed from the points of nearby object curve by user input (It is a polygon under the closed condition). Then the all pixel points through the polyline are obtained rapidly by the DDA algorithm from which are sampled by fixed interval. The pixel points are initial Snake points namely. At last, the Snake points integrated closely the image curve are fitted by using B-spline. Compared to the classical snake model, the denser points can be obtained due to making use of DDA algorithm as well as by sampling at regular intervals for the pixel points through the polylines, consequently, the image target curves can be expressed more accurately and it is the basis for the accurate matching and 3D reconstruction in reverse engineering.
