Abstract
A novel algorithm of target detection and tracking based on motion contour is presented in this paper. The idea of motion contour is introduced by the constructing of background subtraction in which the grid template is used for target detection, and it has accelerated its process in a large extent. Target tracking is carried out by combining the chrominance of motion contour and the shape of the target along with motion vector. The simulation results indicate that this algorithm can be used in target tracking efficiently, and can solve effectively the sheltering and mutual sheltering problems emerged in the process of tracking.
