  • Abstract
Aiming at the present deficiency in reverse engineering (RE) planning for hyper-complex structural components, a method to match RE planning with wait-for-measuring features on the basis of feature analysis and fuzzy synthesis evaluation method is put forward. The defining method for minimal discretization unit feature is studied through the case study of an automobile cylinder block and cylinder head. Then the decoupling and categorization of unit features are realized according to functional requirements. Based on these and combined with three commonly-used measurement methods in engineering, an evaluation method of matching quality between RE planning and different unit features with fuzzy synthesis evaluation method is proposed and the optimal RE planning is selected by analyzing different factors affecting the measurement methods. The results indicate that contact measurement is most suitable for plane-type, hole-type and flange-type unit features, however, sheet-type and curve-type unit features should adopt non-contact measurement, and cross-sectional measurement is appropriate for cavity-type unit features.
