Abstract
Laser cladding forming is one of the novel near-net forming and advanced manufacturing technologies developed in recent years. It is also a powerful tool for the manufacturing and repairing of metal components can be applied in a wide range of industrial fields. In this paper, laser cladding forming of iron-based alloys was carried out. Effects of process parameters on the microstructure were investigated. Microstructure and friction wear properties of the deposited layers were analyzed and tested with OM (Optical Microscopy), EDX (Energy Dispersive X-ray Microanalysis), EPMA (Electron Probe Microanalysis) and SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) methods. Experiments showed that the solidification microstructure of the cladding layers was fine, compact and free of defects. Interfaces of the layers were metallurgically bonded. The cladding layers exhibited a high hardness and wear resistance, and the wearing mechanism of the cladded iron based alloys was mainly abrasive abrasion and spalling wearing.
