Abstract :
Radio propagation experiments have been conducted to analyze the propagation impairments in quiescent indoor scenarios at 40 GHz and 60 GHz. It has been found that de power decay with distance is similar at both frequencies, but fading depth is more severe at 40 GHz than at 60 GHz. The use of space diversity at the receiver is shown to be an adequate technique to mitigate signal fading. The antenna separation needed to assure a low envelope correlation is determined. Diversity gain, for an outage probability of 1%, has been calculated and ranges from 3 to 5 dB, depending on the combination technique used. The relative improvement provided by the diversity system is higher at 60 GHz than at 40 GHz.
