Abstract
A wavelet embedded block coding method based on low-memory and bit-length search is brought forward in this paper. The memory occupancy can be reduced and coding efficiency can be improved through four measures adopted in the process of coding. This four measures are: (1) code LLn sub-band separately; (2) create bit-length chart in terms of bit-length defined by the author; (3) employ bit-length chart instead of using lists in the process of fining and ranking to reduce memory occupancy; (4) quick search key blocks according to the structure of bit-length chart to overcome repeat scan and increase coding speed. According to the experimental results, the algorithm can reduce memory occupancy in the process of coding and increase the coding speed effectively. Meanwhile, it can achieve high PSNR. It makes wavelet coding more applicable and available in single chip hardware system.
