Abstract :
It is 1929. A fire has started in the kitchen. The firemen come, but there is no water. All they can do is help carry furniture out of the house. After the fire fades and the extensive damage becomes apparent, the home is abandoned. Later attempts to preserve the remains fail. Glenlair, home to one of the greatest physicists ever, James Clerk Maxwell, might be lost forever. Figures 1?3 show how it looked during my first visit in July 2005. Depressing.
