Abstract :
In this paper, a multimedia-support e-learning platform called WebELS (Web-based e-learning system) for non-broadband users is introduced. The system includes three main modules: editor, player and manager. Both asynchronous and synchronous e-learning are supported on this platform. Moreover, some technologies are implemented to make the multimedia contents possible for users without wideband network at hand: the multimedia content was converted into slide serials synchronized with audio and cursor action, the multimedia content download is streaming-like, and an offline player was embedded into the multimedia content.
