Abstract :
In this paper, we compare the aluminum die-cast bar with copper die-cast bar and we study the optimal design of copper die-cast rotor bars of three phase induction motors with respect to the values of starting torque, efficiency. The study is base on the Taguchi method and the finite element analysis of the three phase induction motor where the rotor slots. The Taguchi method has been widely used in experimental designs for problems with multiple parameters where the optimization of a cost function is required. The comparison of FEM results proves that copper rotor bar motor has higher efficiency than aluminum die-case bar motor but copper die-cast motor has important decrease of starting torque. Therefore, using Taguchi method & FEM analysis, we design the optimal rotor slot shape.
