Abstract :
This paper presents a new method to increase the magnetic field of the HTS magnet consisting of several pancake windings by conducting the optimal current at each pancake winding. A YBCO magnet consisting of 8 pancake windings was constructed and each pancake winding was excited separately by using multiple power sources. Comparison between single power excitation and separate power excitation are given. Test results show magnetic field can be increased by separate excitation.
