Abstract :
The paper deals with permanent magnet brushless motors designed for automotive applications. The presented motors are used in automated manual transmission (AMT) and twin-clutch systems. In the paper there are summarized requirements for electric motors in such systems. Next, the different configurations (different number of slots/poles, rotorpsilas types) are compared. The advantages and drawbacks of each solution are delivered taking into account torque-speed characteristic, motorpsilas volume, inductances and cogging torque.
