Abstract
The transient and steady state operations of a closed loop variable speed 6-pulse PWM inverter-fed permanent magnet synchronous motor [PMSM] drive system are simulated. Performance of the system covering important operational aspects while using a hysteresis controller or a modified predictive current controller were evaluated over a wide range of speed. Comparison of the results provide insight into the controller action and reveal existence of useful tradeoffpsilas in the choice of the controller for a given PMSM drive application.
