Abstract :
The use of fault tolerant drives is a way to achieve reliability and high system availability in airplanes. To isolate electrical fault it has been proposed to use concentrated coils around stator teeth with spacer teeth in between the coils. The space harmonic content of the air gap flux density in this type of machine is high. During normal operation certain harmonics are cancelled. This paper investigates different possible combinations of numbers of poles and numbers of coils.
