  • Abstract
In this paper a torque compensation technique for switched reluctance motor (SRM) is proposed. The conventional torque control with a simple current control loop usually causes large torque ripples and affects the speed response and overall performance of the drive system. The proposed torque compensation method is based on a torque estimation technique using the inductance profile and squared value of the motor phase currents. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by simulation results of a 1.5 kW, 3-phase, 6-stator-pole and 4-rotor-pole SRM.
