Abstract :
In this paper, a novel passive boost converter for SR drive with high demagnetization voltage is proposed. A simple passive circuit is added in the front-end of conventional asymmetric converter, which consists of three diodes and one capacitor. Based on this passive network, the two capacitors can be connected in series or parallel in different operation status. So the terminal voltage of the converter side is the general dc-link voltage in parallel mode and is the double dc-link voltage in series mode. The phase winding of the SRM obtains the dc-link voltage in the excitation mode and the double dc-link voltage in the demagnetization mode. So it can suppress the negative torque generation from the tail current in the high speed application. And the boost capacitor can keep the dc-link voltage automatically. The operation modes of the proposed converter are analyzed in the single phase SR motor operation in detail. Some computer simulation and experimental results are done to verify the performance of proposed converter.
