  • Abstract
    Transverse flux switched reluctance motors (namely, TFSRM) have a structure in which direction of the current corresponds with the moving one of the rotor, and a ring-shaped winding in stator. The advantages of TFSRM are high torque density per volume and high efficiency because resistance loss of end-turns at winding is absent and magnetic circuit is separated from electric circuit. We designed two kinds of the TFSRM, which are a variable reluctance type(VR type) and a permanent magnet-shield type(PM-shield type). TFSRM with PM-shield has permanent magnet on the teeth of stator to shield from a leakage flux at air-gap, so that increases in the torque density. After analyzing these motors by 2-D and 3-D FEM, we showed the effect of the PM-shield.
