Abstract
The thrust ripples in permanent magnet linear synchronous motor are mainly generated by the distortion of the stator fluxlinkage distribution, reluctance force due to the relative position between the mover and stator, such as cogging force caused by the interaction between the permanent magnet and the iron slot, and the end effects. This is the significant drawback which will deteriorate the performance of the drive system in high-precision applications. In this paper, the optimization method of FEM and analytical method are combined to minimize the force ripples of a double sided PM linear motor (PMDSLM). The pole arc coefficient, the armature length and displacement of two sides PM, etc. is studied.
