Abstract :
A novel self-balancing comparator centered on the configuration of a controlled saturable reactor (CSR) is described. It utilizes AC voltage source excitation, the detection sensitivity of the magnetic amplifier is combined with detection winding and secondary winding. The terminal voltage from the detection winding is asymmetric waveform when the CSR is stimulated both by AC source and DC biasing magnetic potential. Researches indicate that peak-peak value and differential root-mean-square (RMS) between positive and negative half waves of the terminal voltage have direct concerns with the biasing magnetic potential. For improving the control stability and reliability of the close loop and simplifying construction of the comparator, the differential RMS above is suitable for the feedback variance to balance DC biasing magnetic potential and form a self-balancing comparator. Simulation and experimental results both can verify the truth of the principle of the proposed comparator prototype.
