  • Abstract
In terms of the DEA-based SBM model and the performances between 2002-2005, the comprehensive technical efficiency, pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency of Chinese feed-processing industry of seven types of ownership structures were evaluated in the paper, respectively. It is shown that our conclusions are consistent with the research results on ownership and efficiency of other industries, as reported by other researchers. That is, the comprehensive technical efficiency, pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency of state-owned enterprises are all lower than those of the non-state-owned enterprises. Of the seven types of enterprises with different ownership structures, cooperative enterprises have the highest comprehensive technical efficiency, while state-owned enterprises have the lowest efficiency. The efficiency of cooperative enterprises is three times as high as that of the state-owned enterprises. Except private enterprises, the comprehensive technical efficiencies of all types of feed-processing industry increase with time, while that of private enterprises has large fluctuations over the years. The variation of pure technical efficiency almost follows that of the comprehensive technical efficiency. In comparison, the scale efficiencies of the feed-processing industry are relatively high. State-owned enterprises still have the lowest scale efficiency.
