  • Abstract
    Automatic switched optical network (ASON) is controlled with generalized multi protocol label switch (GMPLS). It enables telecom operators to provide automatic traffic provisioning for enhanced network protection, operation and maintenance. The emerging broadband services, such as IPTV and e-science, need point-to-multipoint and multipoint-to-multipoint connections besides the point-to-point one in optical layer. This paper investigates the enhanced connectivity in ASON/GMPLS network with demonstration in field trial of eastern China.
