Abstract :
To simulate electric transmission lines with skin effect, an existing reduced order differential model of skin effect is numerically optimized. This model corresponds to a simple equivalent electric circuit in the form of a ladder, consisting of frequency independent electric elements. The accuracy of the model is improved by optimization of model parameters with an algorithm for system identification. The resulting simulator is numerically efficient and particularly suitable for the study of time domain reflectometry.
