Abstract :
The presenter believes that railway systems engineering has the same principles as systems engineering in other fields but that the specific needs of rail sometimes require that these principles should be applied in a different way in rail compared with other sectors. The presentation will describe an activity to identify a set of universal principles of systems engineering. It will then describe case studies of the successful application of these principles in rail projects.
