Abstract
This paper proposes a parallel active filter with a single phase STATCOM structure to compensate unbalance currents and reactive power of the power line due to unbalanced non-liner three phase loads. Therefore the number of required switches of conventional parallel active filters is reduced from six to four. A new control routine is applied to eliminate requirements for fast data samplers. In addition a new asymmetrical dead-band control is used to modify line currents and reactive power compensation for asymmetrical non-liner unbalanced loads. A circuit model has been simulated using PSCAD/EMTDC software and the results are presented which verify the analysis
