Abstract :
Bayinbuluk alpine-cold wetland is an intermountain basin located in the middle of the Tienshan Mountains in Xinjiang, arid area. Some researches showed that there is a high correlation between the growth of vegetation and the meteorological factors (precipitation, temperature). In this paper, to quantify this correlation a study is carried out with MODIS Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) 16-day composites satellite images and the numbered locations meteorological data to examine the temporal variations and trends over several years. Through the analyses between NDVI and precipitation, NDVI and temperature, that show the satellite measurements of Bayinbuluk alpine-cold wetland vegetation dynamics during the year 2000-2006, have provided a comprehensive picture of the patterns of land surface variation and trend in time series. The NDVI is correlated to the precipitation and temperature, and temperature is the main factor which effect Bayinbuluk alpine-cold wetland NDVI changes, rather than precipitation.
