Abstract
The wind turbines can cause large radar returns. But these are hard to distinguish from aircraft because the turbine blades move at a comparable speed. The impact of any given wind farm on the nearby radars is highly case dependent . A multi-stage assessment process is needed to deal with this: simple line of sight calculations can be used for initial assessments these can identify candidate mitigation options more detailed calculations can be used to assess these in detail an appropriate safety case is often needed.
