Abstract :
Lower Carbon Heating and Hot Water Systems (is zero achievable?) Heating and hot water together is by far the largest energy demand in existing dwellings, and is likely to remain so in new ones. The greatest difficulty in building zero-carbon housing will be to meet this need. Many heating technologies are available, and they differ widely in their technical characteristics, carbon emissions, costs, and use of renewable energy sources. This talk will explore their advantages and limitations, and consider whether zero carbon solutions are feasible on a local scale.
