Abstract
The expectations for sensor networks are growing. One of the most important issues in energy constrained wireless sensor networks is to evaluate the aging process of the sensor nodes and the whole network. The aging process affects data communication, sensing coverage, and network connectivity. In this paper, we discuss the general node aging and coverage aging problem based on reliability theory, and study the effect of the sensor nodes in different locations on coverage aging process. The theoretical and simulation results are shown that the node aging process, the connectivity reliability and data compression ratio have a significant impact on the coverage of the wireless sensor networks.
