Abstract
In this paper two discrete linear optimal multivariable control schemes are briefly described and discussed when are applied to a nonlinear multivariable continous culture fermentation process, the control law synthesis-in both schemes-have been done under a cuadratic criterion giving an optimal linear state feedback control. It is shown that an appropiate selection of the performance index gives a control law suitable for applications. These schemes are equivalent to P and PI conventional controls and have proven to be very robust in tracking and regulation.
