Title :
Numerical linear algebra and examples in control
Author_Institution :

Abstract :
The past five years or so have witnessed an increasing infusion of techniques and results from numerical linear algebra into linear algebra problems arising in systems, control, and estimation theory. This input is important because high quality mathematical software is a fundamental building block for computer-aided design. It is argued that a symbiotic relationship between diverse members of a team, control engineers, computer scientists, and numerical analysts will greatly aid in coordinating related efforts, defining profitable new research areas, and reducing the gap between mathematical theory and increasingly reliable tools for the control design engineer.
