Abstract :
Many companies are looking to newly installed fossil-fuel-fired steam systems to provide two-shift cycling operation and to do it with the more difficult fuels: coal and residual oils. Escallation in the cost of even these fuels has justified improved heat cycle rates. Cyclic loading is discussed, along with control system requirements.
