An Application of Computer Process Control at Oy Kaukas AB

In 1980, Oy Kaukas AB installed two advanced recovery boiler control systems. These systems were designed to control two combustion engineering recovery boilers and two evaporator lines. Within six months of order placement the systems were producing results. The computer-based control systems paid for themselves in less than one year. The two main areas of economic return came from increasing thermal boiler efficiency and black liquor throughput soot-blowing control and temperature. Profile optimization are discussed.
