Abstract
Network power flow analysis is important in a wide range of power system planning and operation applications. A brief and partial overview of this broad topic is made. A description of the physical network components is provided, and a basic power flow problem formulation is presented. The static network security assessment problem is outlined, emphasizing applications of power flow analysis methods. Some limitations of existing methods are identified.
