Abstract
A procedure for the design of preccapensators for linear multivariable continuous-time systems based on reduced-order plant models is described. The reducedorder model is obtained via an optimal Hankel-norn approximation method, whose approximation error can be accurately predicted. The closed-loop stability of the full-order plant and compensator can then be deduced from this approximation error and a robust stability result.
