  • Abstract
In many closed-loop systems, it is possible to tune PI and PID controllers in such a way that increasing as well as decreasing the proportional band can lead to less stable or even unstable performance. The processes and controller tunings that cause this conditionally stable circumstance are explored in this paper using frequency response methods.
