Abstract
The more and more growing claim for new mathematical concepts and tools in such fields biological sciences, social sciences,... is met by a recently new developing mathematical theory: the theory of fuzzy sets, ambition of which is to allow the representations of vagueness, imprecision, uncertainty, subjectivity. This paper offers an illustration through the example of the notion of separating power of a fuzzy set and its possible applications in theory of Ecosystems.
