Abstract :
Armco Inc´s Middletown Works has installed a comprehensive Energy Management Computer System. This system is the heart of a coordinated effort to control the energy cost component of total product cost through optimized use of energy resources. Improvements will be effected through management control of energy at each operation. Major items to be addressed are: - Improved energy resource allocation practices - Energy consumption accountability - Energy purchasing strategy The scope of the system includes all fuel and utility distribution systems in the plant. The functions performed are: - Real-time data acquisition - Display of the metered energy information - Condensation and storage of this information - Tools for analysis of this information - Automated application of optimized energy management strategy
