Abstract :
Some control techniques for a continuously variable transmission vehicle are discussed and compared. A proposed technique which allows the engine to always operate on an ideal line is presented. The optimality of this approach is discussed, and vehicle response is compared with a standard automatic transmission system. The advantages of the CVT system are delineated.
