Abstract
A multivariable predictive control strategy is tested on a full-scale multieffect evaporation process. Quadratic programming (QP) is used to determine the optimal adjustments in the manipulated variables while satisfying inequality constraints representing valve saturation and operational goals. Performance of the QP algorithm is compared with that of PI control.
