  • Abstract
Some recent algorithms for eigenstructure assignment minimize the norms of the errors between desired and achievable eigenvectors. Other authors suggest a solution which minimizes the eigenvalue sensitivities. We propose a constrained optimization problem which trades off these two possibly competing design objectives. A simple example illustrates this approach while incorporating some information about the structure of the uncertainty into the design. A yaw pointing/lateral translation controller is also considered which illustrates some possible undesirable consequences of attempting to obtain the minimum sensitivity solution.
